I can follow the reasoning, and agree it is very important from a scientific point of view, but ... if those inventors/scientists and photographers of the first half of the nineteenth century hadn't experimented with the photographic processes, where would we be now? It's those people that made it all possible, so my money for the most important photograph, is on an image made by one of those chaps.
