jinky

I`m away with probably limited access to internet until the early hours of next Wednesday morning so if someone could set the poll on this one much appreciated. I`ll try to get an entry in but I struggle on a phone / tablet so might post an entry and ask someone to put it in the entry list for me.
Hopefully Rhodes will give me an opportunity for something to fit.

More than happy to help with this Jinky.
Have a wonderful time away.
May the Force be with you.

Clarendon Park - one wall of what remains of an early English palace near Salisbury. Allegedly the site of the oldest deer park in the UK. The cathedral can be seen in the distance.

The theory seems to be that as long as a man is a failure he is one of God's children, but that as soon as he succeeds he is taken over by the Devil. H.L Mencken.

An old one from me, though reworked. Very sad place - well perhaps not sad. Thought provoking.

An old one from me too. I went out looking for something locally but couldn't find much.

I'll put my hands up Mark as I didn't know about Oradour-Sur-Glane. I can see that it would certainly be a thought provoking place to visit. And a bit sad too. Horrific even.  :'(

Good to see you back H.

To be fair, I didn't until the lads we were with mentioned it - and as we were on that side of the Pyrenees (Off roading trip) we came back that way - unfortunately we were too late the first year - closed 5 minutes before we got there - so had to go back the next year.

If you (Or anyone else) doesn't know, it was a village that the Germans completely distroyed. Men Women and children were all killed. The village was left after the war as a reminder of it all. There are cars rotting in the streets and "garages" as well as other bits and bobs. I have more pictures here: https://www.mark.colston-online.co.uk/Days%20Out/Oradour-Sur-Glane/index.html

Thanks for setting the poll Chris and sorting my entry. I can very rarely get a picture on the entry thread using my phone. Did it once but can I remember how  :D.
Mine was an image taken during my week in Rhodes. My plan had been to get a shot of Lindos Acropolis when I saw what was available there. We got the boat to Lindos from Rhodes town, I struggled up the steepest mos dangerous path  putting my knee out twice on the way and when we finally got there two decided it was too much (tight buggers) and my wife thought the queue too long meaning we wouldn`t have time to look. I was very annoyed for the rest of the day and could say in a huff - not to mention that my knee was then strapped up for the rest of the week for nothing!!! Seems we had plenty of time to stop at a cafe for well over an hour getting ripped off and discussing the wedding plans of 2 total strangers during that whole time! 30 euros wasted on the boat for me!

I think it is important to know about some points in history. I am surprised that I didn't know about this.

Your website looks great by the way.

A pleasure Jinky.

Sounds like a frustrating day. Hope the knee is better.
