CHAT THREAD
This week's theme is Flora and/or Fauna.
Go out and find some Flora and/or Fauna and have fun whilst doing it :)
And here is a description from the internet of Flora and Fauna:
Flora and fauna refer to plant and wildlife, respectively. The indigenous plant and wildlife of a geographical region is often referred to as that region's flora and fauna. Both are collective terms, referring to groups of plant or wildlife specific to a region or a time period. For example, the flora and fauna of a warm region may consist of tropical to warm-temperate vegetation and exotic species of birds.
By definition, flora is a word of Latin origin referring to Flora, the goddess of flowers. Flora can refer to a group of plants, a disquisition of a group of plants, as well as to bacteria. Flora is the root of the word floral, which means pertaining to flowers. Fauna can refer to the animal life or classification of animals of a certain region, time period, or environment. Fauna is also of Latin origin. In Roman Mythology Fauna was the sister of Faunus, a good spirit of the forest and plains.

I dont need a euphemism with a lens that big!
For such a straightforward topic this one seems a bit daunting to me. For a start it's absolutely dismal weather, and the weekend is looking worse. I was hoping to get out looking for autumn colors but I doubt that will happen too.
I'm not sure if domestic cats and dogs qualify for 'fauna'.

Fauna is Animals therefore dogs and cats would do.
Fauna - the animals of a particular region, habitat, or geological period.

I get it, FAUNA - the animals of a particular household!
Exactly. flora would be the plants of a particular household!
As an aside, but perhaps pertinent to the title of the thread. I'm reading John Steinbeck's 'Sweet Thursday' at the moment, a follow on from Cannery Row. In it is a character who runs the local house of ill repute. Her name is Fauna. One of her girls queried her name remarking that it was somewhat strange. Another girl explained that it used to be plain old Flora, so she changed it to something a little more mysterious.
So perhaps if you have access to such a lady, an image of her could be allowed. There is a precedent. ::)
I am in with lawn flora. Went for a short walk (in a busy weekend ) visiting my favourite woodland glade but light not that good for my squirrel shots and none were really playing so went for this lawn shot I took prior to cutting them down with a flymo. I did let the fly escape prior to cutting

I'm going to struggle this week. I still can't find my charger and have two flat batteries! :'(
Fauna is animals. Avifauna are birds. Can I enter a bird photo?
Wondering if my entry was entered. I have forgotten how to do it now so Help.
Had a different picture at first, but came across this one today, so this is my entry.
Haven't got a clue what it is. It's a tree, still without leaf, and these flowers are at the end of the branches.

Internet connection totally on the blink. I am connected for a couple of minutes, then it disconnects.
The internets are on go slow - ours is up and down too.
I went out on my bicycle this afternoon looking for something to shoot. Took a shots few in the hedgerows and fields and didn't really like any of them. So I went into our little wood and took a few. This is the one I liked best:

Our small woodland ended up as the place to be this time round for me too Howard.
In with Woodland Butterfly

Well all I can say is this is dedication. Only have the iPhone, very little internet and no processing to talk of.

HELP PLEASE!!
Would it be possible for somebody to pick up the setting of the poll please.
I have just found out that I have to go away with work early tomorrow >:( and I am not sure when I will have the opportunity to set up the poll tomorrow. If nobody can pick up setting the poll would you be happy for me to set the poll early evening today (UK time).
Really sorry to drop this request so late.
Can I enter a bird photo? I asked earlier but no reply. Fauna technically animals, Avifauna is birds. I need to know before I pick my entry.
For me it`s flowers and animals but you know the old adage - if in doubt, put it up and let the voters decide.
Got some cracking wetland bird and wild bird photos yesterday. Best not risk it, and will post a squirrel or flora image, that's all I have

I have a very untrustworthy internet connection at the moment, but ... if it's working on Tuesday morning, I am happy to oblige.
I will put it on first thing. If it has not appeared by 9 am, it means I cannot do it.
So, in that case, is there someone out there, who could then take over?
Afraid I`ll be away with no idea what internet access I will have and probably just my phone with me so no go. I`m sure someone will be able to help out though.

That would be great, thank you Reinardina (hope your internet connection is ok) :)
I didn't think I would be able to do an entry this week as I am off to work. But I'm going with this one.. if the feather is not allowed as fauna then so be it :)

Thanks OB.
Internet has been constant today. Yesterday and Saturday it was literally on the blink for most of the day. According to BT the fault was not on their side, but on mine. I seem to have magically repaired it, by doing nothing. Fingers crossed.
My entry is coming before midnight!
I am sure it will be worth the wait.
Mine is in- I think. I did ask for help on it so I am sure it is in.
OK, I had some bird images they aren't exactly Fauna, as said earlier, so I went for another one instead.........

You did well Eysha. You tried the depth of field I suggested. How did you find it?

Come on Chris, share some of these images with us.
Hi Christine, I had already taken that shot before I read your mail while playing with the camera in the garden.
I am not finding it an easy camera to use - still preferring my Panny to be honest, but I will keep at it now that I have bought it.
I used to cry with frustration at not understsnding or knowing the settings and what the camera could do. Try one thing at a time until you master (or at least understand) it before moving on to another setting.
reinardina, I will post some of them but i have over 500 and need to work through deleting the work and processing the best. Hope to do it by the end of the week.

I bet Panny was difficult to get used to. You'll get used to Nikki too.
Well, an interesting selection of images in this comp.
Had i pulled it off, my offering would not have matched a few of those, though still disappointed I was unable to fit the opportunity in with other duties.
There were 3 that taunted for a vote this week - i will declare their identity after voting ;)
