Insurance Rip Off

Just got a letter telling me the Bike insurance was due & not to worry because it would be automatically renewed at TWICE last years premium. Got on the comparison sites & found it cheaper than last year, so I rang my my current insurer who suddenly managed to reduce his quote by a third!!! Wonder why that one was not on my renewal letter
Needless to say I went elsewhere.

"Insurance Rip Off"  yep you got that right, it is a real rip off.

You pay for the peace of mind, that if the unfortunate should happen then you're covered, and compensated.  Great.   Then when you need to use what you've already paid for they penalise you next time you renew for using the the very service you've already paid for.

Legalised robbery if you ask me.  

Also.  New customers get a better deal without asking for it, and existing customers have to check the prices then negotiate.

The best one is when they ask the best quote you've had so far (in the old days when we did it by phone), I want their best quote not a better one than I've had so I wouldn't tell them, & if you told them you had better they would suddenly find it even cheaper.

Now I will wait for the phone to ring a million times & the inbox to fill up with quotes that I don't want.

My Landrover insurance was up for renewal the other month - my then current insurer (Specialist in LR) wanted nearly £500. I mentioned that I had changed the wheels and tyres - and they coughed and spluttered and then said that as I have 12 seats, they couldn't insure me as I'd modified the car! Searched about and Liverpool Vic came in at just over £200 - mentioned the seats and wheels - not an issue - cost an extra £20.

  Makes you wonder just what they specialise in doesn't it.   Taking the P perhaps.

They did include off road (I think, but not 100% convinced!) and green laning - but as green lanes are public rights of way, any insurance policy includes them!
