Has Getty killed the Goose
« on: March 07, 2014, 12:55:37 PM »
Read this link to understand the title...

http://thedambook.com/getty-did-what/

There are various takes on this announcement - but it seems as though Getty has just totally destroyed the stock image industry from the perspective of the photographer.

I've used Peter Krogh's link, because he seems to be the only one trying to understand what this move is really all about.

I know of a few photographers who have removed there images from Getty, and also removed the link on Flickr to let Getty sell images for them. But I do wonder where this is going  :-\

1 body, 1 lens, 1 flash gun, 1 tripod, 1 cable release & 1 filter. Keeping it simple!
(I lied, just got a second lens!)

All of the photos are apparently going to have an embedded link back to Getty.  Not sure how that will really work, but that was was I read in an overview of it.  Getty has two parts: their microstock and rights managed stock.  The rights managed will not be free.  Those are the ones that advertisers, etc, want with the guarantee no one else will be using that photo.
