Palm Tanagers

Taken on my recent trip to Trinidad and Tobago. The Palm Tanager inhabits cultivated areas and suburban districts in both islands. It feeds on fruit, nectar and insects by foraging among palms and other trees which have small berries, often hanging upside down from large palm leaves. It is also quite a common site at bird feeders, as here. This is one of just a few pictures where I caught some interaction between birds and I like the way the two birds are looking quizzically at each other. I also think it shows quite clearly how well this bird is camouflaged as you can the patterned green plumage set against the background leaves.

Another great shot but shame about cutting off part of the left-side bird. Very Happy
