Thanks for the support,

Dave, when I said the chance of selling shots, I meant to the nationals by the sports agency; it's my second season shooting league football. I've not had any near misses with players or balls yet, but I suppose it's only a matter of time.

Abers, right first time, QPR & MK, thought MK were going to do it until the 88th minute or whatever it was. If it's on the tele, I'm the one in shorts and an Ozzie bush hat (I like to stand out for the cameras).

Shortlisted!

Not for a photograph, but because of my interest in Photography.

When I started my ten week photography course last autumn, I found, on the College website, a writing competition with a good prize: either a MacbookPro, or £1000 worth of John Lewis vouchers.

Creative writing was my previous hobby, before photography took hold, so I dusted off the writing part of the brain, typed my 500 words, sent the email and forgot about it.

Till I received an email, just before Christmas, telling me, my story was one of the five shortlisted. Great Joy!

I can be cynical at times and did not quite believe it, till I saw it with my own eyes. And I just found it this morning; for anyone interested, here is the link;

http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/feweekandme

The story was written under my married name: Ineke (Dutch abbreviation of Reinardina) Ely. (City College Southampton.)

Thanks for your comments H and Greypoint, and thanks for the vote Andy. That's two votes for certain, I just received an email from Karen Oliver and she too voted for me.
Fingers crossed.

Thanks Alan! I didn't fall over, as you've voted for me in the past, so it's not an altogether new experience. Remember the PR comp, where you voted for (and I won with) the 'Red Shoes'?

Re, got my vote!!

Thanks Mike, much appreciated.

Sorry, the link does not seem to work anymore. It now takes you direct to the main site which is quite useless.

I will receive the official printed paper soon, hopefully tomorrow. If I find a new, working, link I'll let you know.

I didn't realise you could vote. Let me know when it's up and running again, and there will be another one in the bag.

Will do.
I wonder if I 'jumped the gun,' and the voting was not officially open yet? Officially the stories are published today in the printed version of the FE paper, which will be sent to me. Haven't received it yet; with a bit of luck it'll be here tomorrow.
Should have kept my cynicism a bit longer!

I just followed the link instructions and voting system seemed to work / register OK; so guess it must be up & running  :-\

Was that when I first put up the post in the morning/early afternoon, or later (mid/late afternoon)?
I'm now being taken straight to the main website (annual subscription £75) with no mention of competitions, and the latest news items days old.
Earlier the link was specifically for the competition. I had to copy and paste a link to a PDF with the stories, and then go back to vote.

I'll see if I get the official paper tomorrow, and if not I'll email the person in charge.

Have to be here tomorrow anyway, as I have to set up the poll. Oh Joy of Joys!
