Why are you blaming your MPs? According to all the U.S. news I see on this side of the pond it's clearly Barack Obama's fault.  Oil companies must feel swell knowing the heats been taken off of them.  ;D

WAMT? Adobe! I was going to post in the bemused thread until the end result. I tried to install the CS6 beta last night. First it took 15 mins to down load the DMG file. Then when I clicked on that I first had to give Adobe my account info, then I had to seek the permission of my Mac to make the changes and then Adobe started pumping a whole pile of other files into my system taking another 5 or 6 mins. Then after all that when I went to run the program it tells me it doesn't work on my type of Mac?!?!? There was nothing on the download page indicating a limited install.  >:(

From the Adobe labs page for CS6 Beta:

The minimum system requirements for Photoshop CS6 beta are as follows:

2GB of available hard-disk space for installation; additional free space required during installation
1024x768 (1280x800 recommended) resolution display with 16-bit color and 256MB (512MB recommended, required for Photoshop Extended) of VRAM
    OpenGL 2.0 capable system

I’m blaming our MP’s because one of them advised everybody to top up their tanks and fill gerry cans  >:( as there might be a tanker drivers strike.  So lots and lots of people then went out and topped up so the petrol stations ran out of fuel.  If he had said nothing then everybody would have carried on as normal until the tanker drivers actually called the strike.

I’m sure Barack has something to do with it as well  ;)  ;D

What they have failed to include, which I found out on a completely separate web site, is you must be running the kernel in 64 bit mode. It is not enough to just have the 64 bit processor. I have discovered mine is set to 32 bit.

And now I'm really really annoyed, finding out that my Mac has been set at 32 bit mode, despite my having them build it with 8gigs of memory, 4 gigs of which it has not been using at all! >:( >:(

Where did you get the beta from?  I thought it was only available from the Adobe Labs site and the system requirements were right below that.

You can easily reboot your system in 64bit mode to test just by holding down 6 and 4 when you boot.

Oh, I got the system to boot in 64 bit, I sort of forgot about the Adobe  Beta, I was so ticked off with Apple.

I went back to the Adobe Labs site, I still don't see any reference to it needing to be a 64 bit system. It just says Adobe CS6 for Mac download.

Ticked off with Apple some more. After reading an article on how to run OS from an external drive I bit the bullet and downloaded Lion.
Installed on the external drive and everything went fine. However I am slowly discovering that a lot of the Apps I actually paid big dollars for, Adobe CS, MS Office 2011 couple of others, won't work properly on Lion. And there's a bunch of little annoyances, like the mouse scrolling the opposite direction from Snow Leopard and right clicking being turned off by default. Good thing the original S.L. setup is intact. I'll be dual booting for a while til, I, or they, work out the bugs.

It is under the Product Details tab, then system requirements.  The system does not need to be running in 64bit, but needs a 64bit processor.  My mini does not boot into 64, but I can run LR4 with the same requirements.

Then there must be some other reason it wouldn't work. Anyway, I've installed Lion on a separate drive so I'm now going to try install the beta there.  ::)
