Thursday 9pm BBC4. This is about David Bailey. From the short preview I saw it might be well worth watching - especially for any fashion photographers here.

Enjoyed that so thanks for flagging it up. Worth seeing on iplayer or on demand if you can. Both JS and DB said they were happy with it in the press today I see. I just thought they seemed a bit dismissive of John French when he packs in working for what looks like a staid old guy in the first 5 minutes. John French was a major player too in the 60s with Bailey and Donovan until he died of cancer - and he shot JS too  so maybe merited a little more.

Later edit - watching 4 Beats to the Bar that followed this it was good to see Bailey himself crediting French with getting him recognised i a very short time - from assistant work for 11 months to Vogue - not bad  :)

Recorded it to watch later. Glad you think it'll be worth investing the time in.

The theory seems to be that as long as a man is a failure he is one of God's children, but that as soon as he succeeds he is taken over by the Devil. H.L Mencken.

I watched it too. Didn't realize he was such a Jack the lad! It was interesting to see how 'posed' the models were back then. Bailey came along and changed that with just one shooting session in New York.

Watched it last night and both the OH and me really enjoyed it, well worth a watch.
