Yes, I watched it. I was amazed that after it closed most of the photographers hung up their cameras and didn't take any more pictures. This leads to the conclusion that for most it was a job, not a passion.  ???

One part that made me chuckle, was the guy who went to Playboy mansion to photograph Hugh and the playmates. Rankin asked how he felt and he replied, "Very horny".  :D

Hinfrance

I watched it too. A shame that there is nothing like it any more and that documentary photography has been replaced by egocentric youtube clippery.

I thought the essay on the country doctor was simply outstanding.

Shame that Rankin seems to have lost at least one of his given names.

The theory seems to be that as long as a man is a failure he is one of God's children, but that as soon as he succeeds he is taken over by the Devil. H.L Mencken.

ABERS

A very worthwhile watch.

Makes you feel your age, I'm older than Life Mag. I noticed that when the first issue was published I was 1 day old. ???
I was a Picture Post man myself.

Graham

Not watched it yet, but I sureley will.
        IPlayer link here. (Hopefully)

An interesting watch.

That point kept coming across that most of its staff togs hung up their cameras when Life closed, but it struck me that maybe that was as much about the type of photography they were doing as opposed to what they set out to do -
from journalism to celebrity - in otherwords, early day paps'

As said, there will never be another Life
