Spin, they do a hard drive as a separate upgrade, (about £79 ) over here, I think. http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/Xbox360/Accessories/HardDrives/Home  That said you'll normally find it cheaper to buy the 250gb package in the first place rather than upgrade.

I agree about the rip off thing though, we have a couple of the older Xbox 360's one dead elite, and one cheaper arcade console, the hard drive was swappable between the two.   Now if we have to replace the console again, we can't use the hard drive from the old box as it won't fit.  >:(

Mick, the same as here, actually the HD is a bit cheaper here, however, if you buy preinstalled it's $50 cheaper and you don't have to do the work of installing. The issue though, is MS by omission doesn't point that out and the Chain store compounded things by advertising the 4 gig as a 'HardDrive'. My daughter knew she needed a HD to play certain games and never would have bought the cheaper system if it'd been advertised properly, then to have the idiot sales guy insist it was a hard drive and the box wouldn't play old games anyway, was the topper.

My lapppy giving me the blue screen of death for the 3rd time in as many months
I cant find anything obvious wrong and the disk check returns nothing
Event viewer also looks ok (although its mostly DD to me )
Only thing running at the time was firefox here and adaware doing a full scan and in to its 5th hour
Looks like a part of me recent redundo will have to be put aside for a new one (wifey permitting of course)

Why not run it in Safe Mode and run your tools? This will disable a few things and you'll be able to run your AV/adware tools more effectively. Just choose no network support. This way, if you are having virus, etc. issues you are not connected to the net.

If you do not know how to get into Safe Mode, just reboot your PC. As soon as you hear it beep keep tapping the F8 key and you should see a menu. Choose without network.

Adobe, the Apple Store listed a version of Photoshop Cs5 (not extended) for $700 Cdn. I go to adobe to download a trial version and when I click on the buttons, it downloads Cs5 Extended. After a few days of playing with it I click on the "Buy" and the price is $1000 U.S. which will cost me an extra $50 Cdn. I can't see anywhere on their site a price for plain Cs5. I got back to Apple and the price there has gone up $100 to $800 Cdn. Yes I know Elements is cheaper but I don't really like it's set up, I'd prefer Paintshop Pro but I don't believe there's a Mac version.

Why not go to the Adobe site - they'll have the ordinary version listed...

Yes, but when you click on that it takes you to the extended version for download.  :'(

Yes, so if you 'try' CS5 extended but buy CS5 what are you missing out on? I don't mind Elements photo editing software, but I hate it's organizer and how the organizer isn't stand alone like Bridge. I wish I could just buy Bridge as for me it's the best of the bunch. Despite their claims I don't find Mac's iPhoto all that user friendly. Gimp doesn't seem to have any kind of organizer at all. Neither, far as I can tell, will browse a networked computer only the drives attached to the machine they're installed on.

As I hoped, the Adobe Camera Raw version 6.3 which was released on 7th December includes support for the Canon s95 I'm expecting for Christmas. The bad news is that it can not be installed in Elements version 8 (or earlier) which I bought when it first came out, not much over a year ago. I think it's quite unfair of Adobe to try to force users to pay for expensive upgrades in this way rather than continue to support still relatively new products.

(I know there are other options, such as using the RAW software Canon bundles with the camera, or converting RAW to to DNG using Adobe's latest free converter, but that's not the point.)

Yes, I'm annoyed that Elements doesn't have an upgrade option, it's full thing or nothing. I was also miffed that Adobe wouldn't let me swap my MS licence for a Mac licence.

That's Adobe all over - money gouging b*st*rds. No support for product that was only reversioned a few months ago, they deserve to go bust - maybe Steve Jobs will finish them in his war with Flash. Fat chance. I'm afraid they have a virtual monopoly position and they will continue to abuse it for as long as they can.

I've got a K5 coming, but luckily DxO are releasing the K5 modules this month sometime and there won't be a charge. As I run everything through DxO first, my old Elements 6 and 7 will be OK. But I am hoping for 9 for Xmas.

Tell me about it. I've been having an issue with CS5 'hanging' according to Adobe support. I say crashing but whichever, it stops working and I have to force quit. I did this back and forth on the Adobe support forums for about a week that didn't resolve anything. I remembered I'd also posted on a Mac forum but hadn't gotten any early reply. I went back there to see if that had changed. Sure enough someone had replied. He had a completely different answer and ironically had warned me that the Adobe people with instruct me to do all these things (which they had) that were completely useless and waste of time (which they were). I followed his advice and sure enough the problem seems fixed. So thinking I was being helpful I go back to the Adobe forum and posted how I gotten this advice and it'd worked. The Adobe support staff just replied with "We've never seen that". No, thanks for the info. No good it's resolved. This particular support person had responded to me before in what I think was a rude and condescending manner. I won't ever go to them for support. Oh,and I complained about the rude post and never got a response.

I can't recall if I ever used 6 or 7 but from what I can see from the Trial version, 9 isn't any different than 8. So I'm damned if I'm going to pay for it again. I'll keep hacking away at iPhoto. Maybe keep an eye out for a discounted version of 8 although it seems oddly conspiratorial that all the versions of 8 seemed to disappear when they shipped out 9. Then again finding Mac software in someplace other than the Apple store is a challenge itself.

The effing cat. If it wasn't for my daughter and better half the damned thing would be mittens by now.

Today my wife baked the Christmas cake. This evening the bl**dy cat ate it while it was set out to cool.

I rue the day I was persuaded to take the vile beast into our house to save it from an early grave. I'll be honest, I've never seen the point of cats. Filthy disloyal killers every one of them.
